Congratulations to the Eastside Athletic team! They beat out 3 other teams to win this year's Club Challenge Trophy. Each team member received a nylon backpack type bag with "Club Champions 2006" on it, and the team's picture will be posted on the ORA web site and newsletter. The bag also sports the debut of ORA’s new logo!

The day started with the Singles competition at 10 a.m., and doubles at 1:30 with over 80 players competing. The day was capped by the End of the Year Party poolside where State Team, State Champions, and Club Challenge awards were given out. Lots of great food, drink, entertainment, and music were on hand!
Here's the break down:
1st Place: Eastside Athletic Club (1247 points) Only a 32 point difference between 1st and 2nd!
2nd Place: Courthouse Athletic Club (1215 points) Wow – only 4 point difference between 2nd and 3rd!
3rd Place: Cascade Athletic Club (1211 points)
4th Place: Griffith Park YMCA (1032 points)
Some interesting facts:
Who won the Singles competition? Cascade with 662, Courthouse with 653, Eastside 626, and then Griffith at 548.
Who won the Doubles competition? Eastside with 621, Courthouse with 562, Cascade 549, and then Griffith at 484.
Who won the most matches? Eastside and Cascade with 21, Griffith with 18, and Courthouse with 16.
Who won the most divisions (19 total)? It’s a 3 way tie with each winning 5 divisions between Courthouse, Cascade, and Eastside. Griffith won 4 divisions.
So all in all, we all had some really good competition among all the clubs, along with the experience of fostering team spirit and sportsmanship!
Many thanks to all the people who helped out, we worked hard to keep everything going smoothly - Kent Hollingsworth, Annette Knoth, Angie Henderson, Lisa Luke, Connie Martin, Brian Ancheta, Ed Boyle, Linda Reeves and Cascade Athletic Club for hosting the event.
Start recruiting early for next year's challenge because it’s only going to get better each year! Is there going to be a new winner, or will there be a repeat winner for next year? So far, only Courthouse, Griffith, and Eastside’s names are on the Club Trophy!
