The ORA held their last tournaement of the 2007-2008 season at Cascade Athletic Clubs April 16th-20th. 250 players competed in this 28th annual Spring Open/Regionals Championships.
Chris Barton (above) of Cascade Athletic Club defeated Chad Westwood from Lloyd Athletic Club in the Mens Open Division which had 24 players, the largest Mens Open Draw this year.
Ektelon sent out Rocky Carson from California - the number one player on the Mens Pro Tour - who gave an excellent player clinic on Saturday evening followed by the ORA year end Party for all ORA Players and tournament players. The food, beer, music was excellent but unfortunately with matches running late into the night, most players just stopped by for the free food/drinks.

The 2008 Northwest Regionals begin Wednesday, April 16th at the Cascade Athletic Clubs in Gresham.
Along with this great event we will be holding two special events at the Tournament. A Players Clinic with Rocky Carson and the ORA End of Season Party.

The 2008 USA Racquetball NW Regional Championships will feature three special Junior events this year: 18 and under Open, 18 and under A/B, and 18 and under C/D. See the official Entry Form for more details.
The final event of the 2007-2008 ORA Tour is the 2008 USA Racquetball Northwest Regionals. The event will be held at Cascade Athletic Club in Gresham.
On the Saturday of the event, Rocky Carson of Team Ektelon will be present from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. for a Pro Clinic, followed by a drawing where a few lucky fans will get to "play the pro". Rocky is the current No. 2 ranked player in the world and the defending US OPEN Champion.
Following the Pro Clinic, the ORA will be hosting the year-end party from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. Appetizers and Beer/Wine will be served (21 and over), and the party is open to all ORA members (whether playing in this event or not - non players please RSVP to Connie Martin). This event is an official qualifier for the 2008 USA Racquetball National Singles Championships, held in May 2008 at the YMCA in Houston, Texas.

Much time is spent by the ORA board resolving issues related to player rating levels. With a players entering multiple divisions such as singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, it can be tricky to know which skill level should be chosen for each event. To help streamline this process, a new player rating system has been developed. This list will be used by players and tournament directors alike to help identify correct player placements. The 2007 - 2008 Oregon Racquetball season schedule has been updated over on the Schedule page. The dates have been set for match play in each of the three racquetball organizations in Oregon; ORA, OJRA, and OHSRL. Head on over, and check it out!
Chadd Westwood won his third straight state singles title this past weekend at the 2007 Oregon State Singles Championships at Lloyd Athletic Club. Westwood defeated Taylor Knoth, who upset the #2 seed Charlie Pratt and defeated Dan Cramer in his semifinal match. See all the results from the tournament by clicking here.
