Congratulations to Beaverton High School for capturing the Overall Team trophy at the 2011 Oregon High School Racquetball State Championships held at the Multnomah Athletic Club and the Beaverton Family YMCA during the last weekend of January. This is the 13th time in 16 years Beaverton has won the national Overall Team award, having previously received the honor in 2010. Beaverton also won the Boys’ Team competition. Sprague High School earned the Girls’ Team trophy.
Sprague finished in second place in the Overall Team division and third in the Boys’ Team division. Lincoln placed second in the Boys’ competition and third Overall. Southridge came away with third in the Girls’ Team division.
Sam Reid, a junior at Lincoln, won the Boys’ Singles championship, and Tanya Ulloa, a senior at Sprague, won the Girls’ Singles championship. Oregon City seniors Rick Charbonneau and Ryan Charbonneau captured the Boys’ Doubles championship while Sarah Lewis and Sarah Kingstad, both seniors at Beaverton, earned the Girls’ Doubles title. Beaverton’s Josh Pryor, a senior, and Krystle Boyle, a freshman, won the Mixed Doubles championship.
These individuals will be looking to upgrade their state victories into national titles at the 24th USA Racquetball National High School Championships, which are set for March 2 – 6 in St. Louis.
