Congratulations to Beaverton High School for capturing the Overall Team trophy at the 2010 USA Racquetball National High School Championships held at the Multnomah Athletic Club and the Beaverton Family YMCA during the last weekend of February. This is the sixth time in 15 years Beaverton has won the national Overall Team award, having previously received the honor in 2007. Beaverton swept the top three Overall spots, also winning the Boys’ Team and Girls’ Team competitions.

 

Sprague finished in second place in all three divisions (Overall, Boys’ and Girls’), and Southridge placed third in the Girls’ division. And, Oregon City earned its first team trophies, capturing third in both the Boys’ and Overall divisions.  

 

Amanda Lindsay, a senior at Oregon City, won the Girls’ Singles championship, earning a one-year appointment to the U.S. Junior National Team. Amanda and partner Rick Charbonneau won the Mixed Doubles championship, defeating Joel Barshaw and Kaitlin Inglesby of Central Catholic.

 

Other notable Oregon finishers include Lincoln’s Dylan Reid, who finished second in the Boys’ Singles championships, and Oregon City’s Ryan and Rick Charbonneau placed second in the Boys’ Doubles championship. Oregon City’s Amanda Lindsay and Taylor Oster also finished second in the Girls’ Doubles championship.

 

Lincoln High School coach Bruce Reid received the 2010 USAR Developmental Coach of the Year Award for his dedication to junior racquetball.
